There is nothing America loves more but understands less than the NFL — whose coaches, players, and media love jargon.
It’s everywhere now, as you’ll see this season: turning jocks into nerds. And, apparently, nerds into jocks, while co-hosting the Dan Le Batard Show this summer. Which led to articles and headlines and people accusing me of being “anti-intellectualism incarnate.”
Or, as respected quarterbacks coach Quincy Avery called my position: “quite possibly the weirdest take from a really smart person.”
And so I called up a really smart football guy who might’ve been threatened by my take: Nate Tice. An NFL analyst at Yahoo and the NFL Network. Who himself is a former NFL scout, and college quarterback, and the son of Mike Tice, the former head coach of the Vikings.
Nate helps us break the code.
