From frozen envelopes to forced retirement, there is no sport more conspiracy-brained than the NBA.
Last season, for instance, the league office had to come out and refute a viral Reddit theory about how a deceitful scorekeeper was giving out fake blocks to Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizzlies’ young star.
It was tempting to believe — but that conspiracy got summarily debunked.
My faith in basketball’s statistical record, of course, was secure.
But then, a couple months ago… I got a phone call.
PTFO correspondent Tom Haberstroh — one of the most trusted names in basketball analytics — hit me with a tip about a story that staggered me. And my worldview.
Because yes, that Reddit stat-juicing conspiracy was total bullshit. But what Tom pointed out was that there was another NBA stat-juicing conspiracy… also involving the Grizzlies… and an Internet forum… that happens to be totally real.
This deceitful scorekeeper actually existed.
He really did get away with editing NBA history, to his liking.
And today, it turns out, this scorekeeper is finally ready to go on PTFO and tell the truth about what he did. Why he did it. And who he really is.

So who the heck was game clock operator for Spurs in 2004 for Derek Fishers 0.04 shot? Cause clock didn’t start when Fisher touched the ball?
Shouldn’t ALL clock operators be NBA employees- especially in playoff games?
