I signed up for the secret email in hopes to send along an encouraging note. I hope this finds you.
I’ve been a fan since the early days of ATH and PTI. It was during this time and with one of your classic back and forth’s with Tony Kornheiser that you trumped his retort with the fact that your father is a Urologist. Being one myself, I was even more of a fan! Anytime you can drop genitalial truth contextually in argument almost guarantees a debate “win”. It is in the same vein that I wanted to genuinely thank you and Domonique for your thoughtful and frank discussion regarding orgasms in sports Podcast on 12/31. In my professional opinion, these are the kinds of discussions that need to happen more often! Not necessarily because of the specific topic of the podcast or your locker room euphemisms (that persistently made Domonique cringe), but rather the frank and casual nature of the conversation globally. In my line of work, I see the repercussions of the shame and fear regarding sexual functionality. You can visually see the stress and fear leave people’s bodies when they actually share with someone else what is going on and then see their confidence come back to them with words of normalization and encouragement. I’ve felt for many years that if we as men were more open and frank about what occurs and happens personally, then most men would not hide the fear of personal inadequacies and physical shame. We need more of this in our culture, media, etc. Your podcast is to this end. Thank you for putting this out there. Thank you for normalizing our bodies and how they work. Thank you both (Domonique and yourself) for the comic relief. The Urology community applauds your efforts!
The show Sports Science did segments on this, testing both men and women. I distinctly remember seeing the one where they brought in a female boxer, tested her punch strength, sent her and her husband (who was also her trainer) off to a hotel, brought her back, confirmed she had achieved orgasm, then tested her punch strength again. She was stronger after.
