And the question multiple people in my life kept asking:

Why was Kash Patel — online conspiracist and Donald Trump’s director of the FBI — sitting with Wayne Gretzky when Alex Ovechkin broke The Great One’s record?

Nobody seemed to know.

But not long after PTFO began this investigative journey, it became clear that I had to call up my old friend from the Toronto Star, Bruce Arthur, to join us.

Bruce is from Vancouver. And with Canada all over political news — simultaneous to Gretzky’s record finally falling — I needed to find out what’s actually happening up north. And how patriotism in Canada feels, at this uniquely bizarre moment, as Trump threatens to take the country as his own.
