Revealed: What Jordan Poole Told Draymond Green Before the Punch Seen Around the World
EPISODE 12: One of the greatest documentarians in the world tests our journalistic ethics.
Ezra Edelman — Oscar/Emmy/Peabody-winning director of O.J.: Made in America; former producer of HBO’s Real Sports; man who very rarely consents to talking about himself — is my journalistic conscience.
As much as he resents that title. (Which is a lot.)
And so, some weeks ago, I asked Ezra to go to dinner to help me talk through my reporting of the Brian Davis story: a story that hinged on an unforgettable, private text that I received this spring.
But while we were talking, and eating, something cosmic happened.
Ezra received an unforgettable, private text, himself.
And this text message — which I more or less jumped across the table to see — purported to reveal something I had long been obsessed with finding out:
The exact quote that Jordan Poole said to Draymond Green before The Punch Seen Around the World.
And today, after weeks of ethically conflicted reporting, and introspection, I get to finally reveal what that quote is.
And how it is that we here at PTFO confirmed that quote… one year after that punch was thrown… and became comfortable enough, journalistically, to share anything about this story… with Ezra… in public.
SPOILER ALERT:
P.S. I highly recommend that you catch us on the DraftKings Network, and/or Roku (Channel 254), and/or Samsung TV Plus (Channel 1168), and/or Xumo Play, and/or YouTube, to see what our art department cooked up for this episode (see above). It’s horrifying. And beautiful.
Amazing jou... jour... journalism, as always Pablo.
