If you know Veep — which ran from 2012 to 2019 on HBO and won 17 Emmys and also a Peabody, for good measure — you already know actor Timothy Simons as Jonah Ryan, a scheming White House aide who, by the end of the seventh season, transforms into a kind of proto-J.D. Vance.
And if you don’t know Veep… well, today is your lucky day.
Because I can think of no better way to commemorate whatever the fuck is about to happen than with the guy who played the most comically detested character on one of the greatest comedies of all time.
I should also point out that former PTFO guest Dave Mandel, who did our Yankee Wife-Swap Episode with us, was Veep’s showrunner. And that Julia Louis Dreyfuss was Selina Meyer: the titular, morally bankrupt veep who finally became president thanks to a plot point that now seems, uh, prophetic.
As a truly staggering amount of this show turned out to be.
