I’m going to assume you have no clue who Tom House is.
But to be a quarterback or pitcher is about precision physics under public pressure. It’s about a marriage between mechanics and mind. And when the best throwers in the world need help with that coupling: they make a House call.
Dr. Tom House is the only psychologist who’s also a former Major Leaguer and also the author of 22 books. His clientele spans both football and baseball, from Tom Brady to Greg Maddux to Drew Brees to Nolan Ryan to Andrew Luck to Randy Johnson to Tim Tebow, and on and on and on.
Tom House not only changed the sport; he was decades ahead of it.
And typically, Tom is a background character in the lives of these very famous people. As a player, his fastball couldn’t even touch 85 miles an hour.
But when I touched base with Tom recently, while I was out in Los Angeles, I found out that he was in a different mood these days.
At age 77, Dr. Tom House was ready to tell me his incomparable life story.
He was ready to share how he’s navigating his own mechanics and his own mind.
And yes: he was ready to fire off some takes.

Pablo and your excellent team of producers,
Your show is phenomenal. I so frequently love a different episode that my top five favorite PTFO's Top Five changes as frequently as my Top 5 Hall Passes List. But I have to tell you, the interview with Dr. Tom House on House Call (ep. 225) was one of my favorite PTFO's ever. Maybe it's the sports science geek in me. Or maybe, it's my inner-Peter DePodesta coming out, or perhaps it's the fact that I had a small collection of Tom House Topps cards growing up (his '79 Mariners card is most memorable because he is showing a grip to the camera), but I loved episode 225. It was so fascinating. I just wanted you to know that your hard work continues to resonate with me. Thanks for the continued innovations in this crazy podcast space during a chaotic time of globally incredulous headlines. We all need the distractions. I am a big fan!
